GEORGE BROADHURST (1866-1952)
Director of Grand Forks Opera House & Noted Playwright

A former Grand Forks newspaper reporter managed the city’s magnificent opera house and later had one of the most famous theaters on Broadway named after him. While in Grand Forks, George Broadhurst began writing plays. Because of his ability to write, direct, and produce successful plays, the Schubert brothers decided to build a Broadway theater for him to feature many of his own productions.
